The idea of total independence is one resounding impossibility. The thought that you can be alone on earth never ends well.

In Biology, we learn about the characteristics of all living things. Remember MR NIGER D? We always omit adaptation but, it is a huge part of living. The only reason a person can adapt to a place is because there is another person adapting to the same environment. If they were the only one alive, they’d die sooner even if there was food and water.

Forget about the movies, that’s why it is fiction. The best of your Hollywood films still make you see how falling in love made the isolated person whole again. Recently saw a series where the guy was allergic to humans and lived alone. Guess what? He had a butler and was the director of a multinational company who was so good at his job. How?!!!! He was indeed allergic to touching human skin, but he made relationships from afar and attended meetings with gloves and a baton for touching things people touched. LOL! He still needed people. Yet all that is the fiction that fuels the idea that you can do life alone… WEIRD.

Association and community are essential to the essence of a person. Not to say that you shouldn’t be your own person, but, the only reason you want to be your own person is because you have templates to compare what personhood looks like and the differences you want personally.

Believe it or not, association should be listed as one of the characteristics of living things (especially for humans), without which it is impossible to live. God designed it that way. To have people around is to know the essence of life.

“Everyone needs a support system, be it family, friends, coworkers, therapists, or religious leaders. We cannot do life alone and expect to keep mentally, emotionally, and spiritually healthy. Everyone needs some sort of support system on which to rely.”

―Richelle E. Goodrich

Every time I see people do amazing things for the people they love, it gets me thinking, A LOT! Even the bad things people do get me wondering what impact they must have on the lives of others that they are so affected by their misdeeds.

Anyway, having solid people around you cannot be overemphasized. People who think like you, who are loyal to you and you to them, who love you and support your every move. People who share the same values as you and want to see you thrive.
