Future Burden
Stressed on behalf of tomorrow (in the opposite direction)
Speaking with people who do really big things in society or listening to them speak can be really inspiring. “You need to start now", “Bravery and perseverance are the keys to success” etc… All that good stuff.
However, I’m looking for a day someone would just tell me “yes, I know what it means to carry the burden that has not even come yet just like this” or something like “No!!!! I cannot relate. Are you crazy? Why are you thinking like that?”
Let me make this little puzzle clearer.
In recent times, I realized that recognizing how much work I have to do in the future makes me take a back seat and say “Let me chill today. The work will be hectic tomorrow".
To be a lot more clear, if I have a test coming up on Friday, there’s a lot to read on it and today is just Monday, I’d just be like “See, I have to sleep well today ooh. I cannot over stress my head.”
Do you get me now? Taking the opposite direction in the face of urgency.
Many people would say this is laziness, which I subscribe to by the way (a little bit). Others will call it procrastination. And it can be these two things, really.
But what I see much more is the fear of doing something good or great. The fear of not being able to take a break like I always do. The fear of being too much to too many. The fear of burning out. The fear of not having a life. The fear of never having the chance to be alone when I want to.
It’s the kind of fear that makes you want to take a backseat even if that’s not what you love.
It’s called convenience.
