Flowing With The Adults

Their influence is BAM!!!!!

The wealth of knowledge that many adults possess. Oh my GOD!!!

I mean, I know there’s experience in all of that but experience or not, WHEN YOU ARE WISE, YOU ARE WISE.

I really love to glean a lot from them. It can be very amazing.

However…

There are some questions they ask and expectations they have that are not in your line of thoughts at all.

Flowing with older adults as a young adult can be very demanding, I tell you. But, it is quite essential for your growth in my opinion.

So, you get torn between wanting to be their best buds and running away from gazes they imprint on your skin with their glasses hanging on their noses.

“You should be a man in this manner but you are still my baby - child - infant - embryo.”

They always expect you to be grown up, behave like an adult but still be their child, like when you were 4.

Funny thing is when you show them your child-like sides, they call you immature.

“THE CONTRASTS!!!!!!!”

That can be really confusing and scary, coming from them.

Another thing that scares me is watching them grow older and thinking to myself; “this would be you in a couple of years.”

This thought makes me rue adulting.

You know how you are growing rapidly and it’s really against your will? When you just want to put off the ‘aging' clock?

That’s how I feel everytime.

I hate the ‘growing up’ stuff.

I hate it more because of the ever present talk on biological clocks.

I hate it because it’s putting me on a pedestal that’s pretty much beyond what I’m ready for.

One thing that crowns these thoughts is seeing the close older adults deviate from some things they could have stood for because they are getting to the age where they should be taking everything as is and not combating it.

Being around them and being so close also begin to rub off on you. Their approach to life, their seriousness, their views. You begin to see things the way they do and act how they would.

You begin to grow old.

Flowing with adults is nice but it can make you come to too many realisations your mind is not ready for.

It’s a setup.

A great but mischievous one.

One thats kick starts REALITY in you.

P.s. I choose to remain a child-like young adult. Avoiding stress as much as possible would be my motto.

Maybe or maybe not…
